Ladies Rock Camp 2015

WHEN
The next session of Ladies Rock Camp will take place May 23-25, 2015.  Fill Out Application below to register.

WHY
Not only is Ladies Rock Camp a thrilling and fun experience - all proceeds support our youth programs. At Girls Rock SB, it is our mission is to be accessible to all girls regardless of their families’ financial situation. We offer full and partial financial aid.

At Ladies Rock Camp, you are empowering the next generation of women while empowering and celebrating your peers. All proceeds support our Financial Aid Fund, allowing girls from low-income families to attend our summer camp and after school programs.

WHO
LRC is for all women age 18 to infinity years old. NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY, and all skill levels are welcome. GRSB welcomes campers who identify as female, trans, and gender non-conforming. We provide instruments and all your meals for the entire weekend, so all you have to do is show up.

  • Live showcase finale happens on Monday at Blind Tiger

TUITION

  • Tuition for Ladies Rock Camp is $325. Each participant's contribution supports our youth programs.
  • Just like our youth programs, we want everyone to be able to participate! If you cannot afford the fee but want to attend, you can opt to raise money through pledges from family and friends.

WHAT DO PAST PARTICIPANTS SAY ABOUT LADIES ROCK CAMP?
  • ...Rock Camp was an all-around great experience and I'd do it again in a heartbeat."
  • "Super fun. The whole weekend was such an amazing rockin' time."
  • "I have attended many workshops and inspiring retreats, and I can fully say this was the best one of them all. Thank you so much for working so hard on this...you are appreciated."
  • "Wonderful staff and volunteers! Everyone was always in high spirits, very motivational, supportive, positive, encouraging, and loving all in one."

CAMP ACTIVITIES:
  • Instrument instruction: Campers sign up to learn bass, drums, guitar, keyboards, or vocals, and attend lessons in groups of 3-5 students.  No musical experience is required and campers are grouped by experience level. We provide instruments for everyone (but campers are welcome to bring their own guitar or bass).

  • Band practice: Campers form bands with their peers on the first day of camp, and work together to collaboratively write an original song. Each band works with a female mentor (their "band manager") who provides guidance, encouragement and technical support throughout the songwriting process

  • Workshops: Campers attend a different workshop each day, all geared toward self-expression and building confidence, while challenging gender stereotypes and addressing discrimination. Workshops may include Music Herstory, Image & Identity, Songwriting, Self-Defense, Music Business, Live Sound and more.

  • Fun Activities: Jam sessions, karaoke and open mics, and optional evening outings bring out our playful energy and motivate us throughout the weekend. We let loose, hang out, get to know each other and have a raucous time!

  • Showcase: On Monday evening, each band performs its original song at Blind Tiger, open to friends, family and the general public.

Want to Win a Free Week of Girls Rock SB Summer Camp?

As many of you know we are running two different camps this summer - 1 teen Amplify sleep away camp at Ojai Valley High School and one day camp at Santa Barbara Jr High. We want your help to get the word out about our programs and in exchange we will be giving away two weeks of camp to our winners.

The Rules:

This contest is open to anyone of any age.

It's this simple, when Girls Rock SB shares content on either Facebook or Instagram:

1. like it

2. Share it with a sentence or two about what you like about our program ( or video or picture of the day.. etc)

3. Hash tag all posts with #GRSBCAMP

4. You will get 1 point for every share. If you decide to write your own content and talk about how awesome we are or post video testimonials etc .. we will take note of those "extra credit" points as well. We encourage you to be creative!

5. The contest will run from Feb 19th - to March 19th. We will pick one winner from Instagram and 1 winner from Facebook. The results will be announced on social media, our website, newsletter, and at the Girls Rock SB Showcase on March 22nd, Soho Music Club.
