+ Kristi Newton, Senior Director of Development Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics, UC Santa Barbara, Officer

Kristi Newton is a third generation Santa Barbara native and a passionate advocate for Girls Rock Santa Barbara (GRSB). Kristi and her husband Joe have two girls who have benefited enormously from participating in GRSB programs. Kristi currently serves as Senior Director of Development for the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics at UC Santa Barbara where she is leading a $30M endowment campaign. She has more than twenty-five years experience as a non-profit development professional, including having served as Associate Vice President of Development at Caltech in Pasadena, CA and many local non-profits including The Granada Theatre, United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County, the American Heart Association’s Santa Barbara Division, and United Way of Santa Barbara County. Kristi has helped to raise more than $1B in philanthropic support throughout her career in support of high-impact initiatives and institutions in education, youth development, health, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math). She is an active community volunteer, who, in addition to volunteering for GRSB, has just completed a four-year term on the Hope Elementary School District Board and is serving on the Board of the Hope School District Education Foundation. Kristi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

+ Anais Pellegrini, Vice President of Advancement, Santa Barbara Symphony

Anais Pellegrini began her career in fundraising at the Katonah Museum of Art (N.Y.) in 2005, and has since worked for a range of non-profit organizations. A Santa Barbara resident for over ten years, Anais is proud to have served as Associate Regional Director for the Anti-Defamation League’s Tri-Counties office; as Associate Director of Development for the Granada Theatre; Director of Development for the Community Environmental Council, and most recently, Director of Development at Dream Foundation. She presently serves as Vice President of Advancement of the Santa Barbara Symphony. She has held volunteer leadership roles on the boards of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, as well as the Santa Barbara Education Foundation. A generalist in the Development field, Anais has a passion for connecting both individual and corporate funders with resonant causes and creating tailored engagement plans to build meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility programs. Anais is thrilled to take on the role of VP of Advancement for the SB Symphony to secure funding for this vital and venerable community cultural resource. Of special interest to her is advocating for the beauty and joy of live symphonic music to the next generation of music lovers. Born in Malta and raised in China, Australia and Hong Kong, Anais has a deep interest in what strengthens and enriches lives and communities, and is honored to be a part of the non-profit sector in Santa Barbara. She is a mother to two daughters, Talia (7) and Lena (5), who attend Peabody Charter School.

+ Alexandra Platt, Senior Business Analyst, Procore Technologies

Alexandra (Alex) Platt has been involved with music her entire life. Most recently, Alex sang with the semi-professional a cappella group VoxPop, based in Washington, DC. Prior to this, Alex founded the all-female group the Santa Barbara Soundwaves and was the founding teacher of the Pop Rock Choir program for Girls Rock SB! While a student at UC Santa Barbara, Alex was a member of the all-female a cappella group VocalMotion and sang with the King's Chicks while completing grad school in London. Alex's musical roots lie in her four years of competitive choral singing with the Napa High School choirs and a cappella group, Vocal Music Workshop.

Professionally, Alex currently serves as a Senior Business Analyst for Procore Technologies, supporting the implementation, administration, and optimization of HR business systems. She got her start at Procore in recruiting operations, using her passion for talent development and data to advise company leaders in creating strong hiring strategies to grow their teams. Prior to this, Alex was a Program Associate for the Henry Crown Fellowship at the Aspen Institute. In addition, she currently serves as Chair of the UC Santa Barbara Communication Alumni Council, supporting the department with development and student and alumni relations. Alex completed her M.A. in Global Studies through the Erasmus Mundus Masters in Global Studies program and holds a B.A. in Communication and Global Studies from UC Santa Barbara.

Award-Winning Entrepreneur and Best-Selling Author, Dr. Minette Riordan spent the past 17 years honing her marketing and sales expertise from print media to digital marketing to speaking on stages in front of hundreds of people. She is passionate about supporting women to master the arts of persuasion and connection. The more we focus on building community, creating spaces where women feel they belong and nurturing relationships, the more successful we will be in our careers, businesses and local community. Minette’s current focus is as a women’s leadership, confidence and creativity consultant to individuals and companies. She offers workshops, training and individual coaching to women leaders ready to take their vision, passion and purpose to the next level.
