Transportation to Camp

How does transportation to and from camp work? Airport transportation is available to all families. Amplify Sleep Away Camp is located between 65-95 miles from Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego Counties. Parents have the option of driving their campers to camp or using our local airport via LAX. If you would like your CAMPER to ride on our Amplify LAX shuttle, please fill out all travel information for your camper in the camper application. The completed travel forms must be received no later than 30 days prior to the camper’s session start date. If the form is not returned within this time-frame, we may not be able to provide transportation. When we have room, we can also offer shuttle services to and from camp for our LA families who would like to meet us at LAX.

IMPORTANT:

  • All flights must be scheduled to arrive between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Saturdays and depart between 4 pm and 8 pm on Saturdays.

  • Please note campers flying in for our Session 1 will be a Sunday morning pickup between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm.

PRICING:

  • Amplify offers service to and from LAX on check-in and check-out days. The price for transportation from LAX is $120 one-way or $240 round-trip.

FAQ’s:

We live in the Los Angeles area, do you offer a pick up/drop off option in LA? Depending on available space per session on our shuttle it is possible to accommodate this. Please email the camp directly if you would like to be placed on a waiting list for this.

My child is flying as an unaccompanied minor, do you pick them up and take them directly to the gate?

Yes. Parent(s)/Guardian(s) are to be responsible for making reservations and ticket purchases for all transportation arrangements. Please contact the airlines regarding their unaccompanied minor regulations. Any and all fees for unaccompanied minor services must be paid by the Parent/Guardian at the time of booking.

If my child is not flying as an unaccompanied minor where will they be picked up?

We will meet our campers at baggage claim and pick them up there, however if a parent prefers we pick them up direct at their gate, they can request that.

I see you are a technology free camp, can my child bring a cell phone with them for when they are traveling? Yes. We understand the need to be able to communicate with your child during travel. Once we pick them up we will hold on to their phone until sending them back to the airport for their departure. We make sure all phones are fully charged and ready for their flight home.

My child has never flown alone before, do you ever buddy up campers to arrange travel together for kids who are flying in from the same city? Yes. We love when we have several kids flying in from the same area and we can arrange to get them all on the same flight. Let us know if this is something you are interested in and we can connect you with other families.

Will there always be camp staff on the LAX transport shuttle?

Yes. There will always be Amplify staff accompanying the campers for arrival and departure to and from camp.

What if I can’t bring my camper at 1 pm or have to pick them up early? 

No problem! Just arrange your pick up times with a camp director, keeping in mind that your camper may miss out on some key first day activities, or the closing Showcase performance.

For families with kids flying in from out of state please contact Amplify directly and we will help navigate the process of picking up the kids at the airport and transporting them back to camp.

CHANGES OR CANCELLATIONS

We must receive notification by email to girlsrocksb@gmail.com of any changes, missed flights, cancellations or delays. If we are not notified of any itinerary changes, at least 24 hours in advance, you will still be charged the full transportation fees
